On the edge of the forest, between Sibiu and Brașov, there is a place that keeps alive the memory of the old days. Here, in the years when outlaws roamed the mountains and valleys of Transylvania, Fântânița was more than a spring – it was a stopover, a refuge and a meeting point.

Legend has it that, after long and dangerous journeys, outlaws would stop to water their horses and rest their souls near the clear water that still springs up today. The atmosphere of freedom and courage of those times has been preserved over the years, and the name of Fântânița has become a symbol of hospitality and stories told around the campfire. Since then, the place has remained a landmark for travelers, a point between worlds – between the city and nature, between the rush of the road and the peace of rest.

In the 1970s, Fântânița Haiducului came to life as a stopover for those who roamed Transylvania. In a short time, it became one of the most famous stopping points on DN1, renowned for its traditional dishes, warm atmosphere and sincere hospitality. Entire generations remembered the meals of sarmale, stews and pălinca served with a smile, of weddings and parties that lasted until the morning, of hikers who started their adventure to Transfăgărășan by stopping first at Fântâniță.
